Privacy Policy - Markup Studio for Confluence

This policy describes how the Markup Studio app for Confluence Cloud ("the app") handles data. It reflects how the app is actually built; if the app changes the way it handles data, this policy changes first.

Who is responsible

Artur Khomniuk, individual entrepreneur trading as Markup Studio, not Atlassian, is responsible for the processing of personal data described in this policy. Atlassian stores and processes your Confluence content under its own privacy policy.

What the app does

The app is a Confluence macro. It shows Markdown text, Mermaid diagrams and LaTeX formulas that you write in the macro editor, and it provides the macro's content when a page is exported.

What we receive

From the app: nothing. The app has no servers of its own and no analytics. It does not send us your pages, your text or any usage data, and nothing it shows is loaded from outside Atlassian: pictures in your Markdown are shown only when they come from your own Confluence site or Atlassian's media service.

From Atlassian, because your organisation licensed the app: for each installation, Atlassian gives us, in the Marketplace partner portal, your organisation's name and country, the licence details (tier, dates, entitlement number) and the names and email addresses of the billing and technical contacts. We use them only to manage the licence, answer support requests and send notices the service requires (for example security notices), never for marketing without consent. We keep them while the licence exists and for 24 months after it ends, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

When you contact us for support: what you choose to send (for example your email address and a description of the problem). We use it only to answer you and delete it within 12 months after the request is closed, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Where data is stored

The Markdown you write: in your Confluence site, stored by Atlassian as the macro's configuration, in the location set by your site's data residency. When the text contains non-English characters, the page also keeps a second, encoded copy of the same text, so that Word export reproduces it correctly. We never receive it.
Unsaved editor text: while you edit a macro and have not saved yet, the editor keeps your unsaved text in your own browser tab (session storage), so that it can offer it back if the editor closes or the page reloads before you save. It is never sent anywhere, and it is removed when you save, when you discard the draft, or when you close the browser tab.
Support requests: in a Gmail mailbox, operated by Google and stored in its data centres; messages sent to our addresses reach it through Cloudflare Email Routing.
Licensing and contact information Atlassian gives us: in the Atlassian Marketplace partner portal, and in files on our own computer in Ukraine.

Deleting the macro or the page deletes the content, under Confluence's normal rules (trash, version history).

Only the service providers that store it for us (Google, Cloudflare Email Routing) and Atlassian where your licence requires it. We do not sell personal data. We use no analytics, no tracking and no cookies.

Permissions the app asks for

Display inside Confluence pages and store its configuration in the page (standard macro behaviour).
Allow inline styles in its own frame, which the formula and diagram renderers need for layout.

The app does not request access to other pages, users, spaces or any external network address.

Search

The Markdown text is added to Confluence's own search index so that you can find pages by the text in the macro. This happens inside Confluence; nothing is indexed elsewhere.

Your rights

For content in your Confluence pages, contact your Confluence administrator; Atlassian handles that data under its own privacy policy. For data we hold (support requests, licensing contacts), write to support@markupstudio.dev: within 30 days we give you a copy, correct it or delete it.
